Getting Around Berlin

Public transportation in Berlin consits of a network of trains (U-Bahn and S-Bahn), trams and buses. You can choose between a variety of different ticket options including single trips, (multiple) day passes or group tickets. Tickets are avaible at multilingual ticket machines on U- and S-Bahn platforms, from the bus drivers, at machines inside trams or through mobile phone apps. Be aware of the different tariff zones: to get to the inner city you need a AB ticket from airport Tegel (TXL) and a ABC ticket from airport Schönefeld (SHX). Trains run from 4 am to 1 pm on weekdays and nonstop on weekends. More information can be found here.

If you prefer, you can flag down or call taxis through a number of mobile apps. You can recognize taxis easily from their light yellow color and a sign on the roof.

In addition, there are a number of ride sharing,  scooter and bicycle rental options available.

We will block hotel rooms nearby. The necessary information will be updated here soon. In addition, there are plenty of accomodation alternatives within the city.

Currency and Shopping Hours

The official currency is the EURO. Note that in Germany "cash is king". Many restaurants and most supermarkets will accept major credit cards. However, there is no guarantee.

Most shops are open Monday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Some supermarket have longer opening hours. Note that most of the shops and supermarkets are closed on sundays, with the exception of restaurants.

During the registration process you will be asked if you need an invitation letter for your immigration to Germany. There will be a questionnaire which you have to fill out providing all necessary data for us to provide you the letter accordingly.
